Bid to replace stolen medal

-

Curling great Rhona Howie has petitioned the International Olympic Committee for a new gold medal to replace hers which was stolen from a museum in 2014.

Rhona Martin, as she was then, led Great Britain to glory at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Her medal was stolen from an exhibition in Dumfries. Two men were jailed for the theft last year.

The medal was never recovered and Howie told

The Scotsman: “I have written a statement and put the police report in. That is all going off to the IOC.”
