Cheeky Willian pulls strings in Chelsea win, while Mahrez back in the groove for Foxes
Willian dispatched two inchperfect finishes as Chelsea cruised past Hull 4-0 last night and into the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The hard-grafting Brazil forward’s smart brace sealed a comfortable Stamford Bridge victory stroll, with Frenchman Olivier Giroud, pictured, bagging his first Chelsea goal and Pedro also on target before the half-time whistle.
Willian also showed his savvy side, however, appearing to distract David Meyler with a cheeky comment just before the Hull midfielder missed a second-half penalty.
Meyler turned around and ruffled Willian’s hair – with both men all smiles – but the Hull star’s tame spot-kick was then saved by Willy Caballero.
Earlier, Leicester City had become the first team through to the quarter-finals as Jamie Vardy’s header gave the Foxes a 1-0 win against Sheffield United.
The four-time cup runnersup, who have never lifted the trophy, fended off their opponents from the Sky Bet Championship thanks to England striker Vardy’s intervention.
He broke the deadlock after 66 minutes, looping a header from Riyad Mahrez’s deep right-wing cross over Blades goalkeeper Jamal Blackman and across goal into the right corner. Mahrez teaming up to good effect again with Vardy will come as a huge boost to Leicester manager Claude Puel after Mahrez’s selfimposed exile following a failed switch to Manchester City last month.
