Man charged after death of prisoner

A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a prisoner.

Police were called to HMP Glenochil in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire, about 12:50pm on Saturday.

Prisoner Michael Mowat, 46, was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital where he later died following the alleged stabbing.

Steven Mcivor, 33, was charged with murder when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court yesterday.

He entered no plea and was committed for further examination. Mcivor was remanded in custody.
