Dog was beaten unconscious, thrown on road
A man who beat a dog unconscious and threw it on to a road has been jailed for four months and banned from keeping animals.
John Poole punched and kicked a golden retriever before throwing it against a wall on Main Street, Ayr, on 27 January.
The 42-year-old pled guilty yesterday at Ayr Sheriff Court to causing a protected animal unnecessary suffering.
He also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour towards police officers. A court order banned Poole from owning or keeping any animal for four years.
