Sightings soaring: Scotland is the place to be to see whales and dolphins

-

New figures have revealed that Scotland is now the best place in the UK to spot whales and dolphins. Marine conservation charity the Sea Watch Foundation recorded 608 separate sightings in July and August last year. England recorded 555 sightings, Wales had 231, the Channel Islands 11 and there were five reports from the Isle of Man over the same period. None were reported in Northern Ireland. The foundation said that among the highlights of the survey were sightings of long-finned pilot whales in the Moray Firth and orcas in the north of Scotland.
