Ash attack: Youngsters head for school as Mount Sinabung sees huge eruption

Indonesian schoolchil­dren walk together at Sipandak elementary school in Tiga Pancur village in Karo, in North Sumatra, as thick volcanic ash from the volcano Mount Sinabung volcano rises into the air following another eruption.

The authoritie­s have reported the biggest eruption so far this year, with ash and rock propelled more than 16,000 ft into the sky. A Red Cross video showed think layers of ash covering roads and houses.

Sinabung roared back to life in 2010 for the first time in 400 years and has remained highly active since, displacing around 30,000 people.
