De Francesco indulges in guessing game over Under

Shakhtar have identified Cengiz Under as Roma’s danger man in tonight’s Champions League clash in Kharkiv, but visiting coach Eusebio de Francesco is keeping his cards close to his chest on whether the 20-year-old Turkish midfielder will even feature.

Roma’s £13.4 million summer signing has sparked into life with four goals in his last three matches, but de Francesco declared last night: “Cengiz has done some extraordinary things and has been decisive a lot in recent games, but it’s not only about Ünder but about the team.

“We are delighted with the fact that he is in great form, and we are all delighted to have him with us, but does that mean he will play or start?

“I want all of my players to have the maximum attention and application – even Daniele [De Rossi] doesn’t know if he’s playing.

“I’ve taken this decision for this game as I want them all on their toes, then I will decide who goes out to play tomorrow.”
