Scotland have to move on, insists Scott
With two Six Nations defeats and members of the coaching and backroom staff currently suspended, Scotland Under-20 head coach Steve Scott admits it has been a testing few weeks for him and the playing squad.
However, he has asked his players to stay fully focused on the job in hand ahead of a very tough England test which is to come at Myreside on Friday evening.
Things were already going badly for Scotland when they lost 36-3 and 69-19 to Wales and France in the opening rounds of the showpiece age-grade event.
And then it was revealed that members of the coaching and backroom staff had been suspended pending the outcome of an internal disciplinary investigation after a late night incident in Wales prior to the opening fixture.
There is no suggestion that any Scottish Rugby personnel were the instigators of the incident, but it has left Scott without assistant coaches Ben Fisher and Nikki Walker for the time being.
Former Scotland full-back Pete Murchie and under-18 head coach Iain Monaghan have stepped in to help prepare the side for the home clash against an England outfit who have defeated Italy and Wales to date.
“We have to move on, we cannot dwell on what has happened and what is going to happen [once Scottish Rugby’s investigation is concluded],” Scott said.
“The players have to be ready to play on Friday night and just concentrate on their rugby. We had to sit down with them and make them aware of the situation, but then we moved on because it is nothing to do with the players, they were not involved [in the incident] and they just need to put in a better performance this time around.” Edinburgh have handed derbyherochrisdeanatwo-year contract extension.
