Leisure centre with roof on fire evacuated

A leisure centre was evacuated yesterday while firefighters battled a blaze on the roof.

The alarm was raised at The Foundry in Barrhead, East Renfreshire, shortly before 10am.

Black smoke could be seen billowing from the building. It is thought a wooden pallet may have been the source of the fire.

The centre offers a combination of leisure, business and education facilities.
