Well fired: Hunt for best Scottish baker of 2018 is launched with children’s competition

Youngsters from Thurso schools celebrate the launch of the search for Scottish Baker of the Year 2018.

Two teams of local children competed in a Generation Game-style baking contest at Reids of Caithness in Thurso. Consumers will vote for their favourite baked goods from across Scotland. Voting will run until 9 March.

Alasdair Smith of Scottish Bakers said: “With thousands of pies, scones, loaves, savoury items, morning rolls, individual cakes and biscuits sold in Scotland every day, our bakers work hard so we are delighted to be once again giving Scottish bakers the chance to shine.”
