Frederik Andersen made 40 saves to shut out the Florida Panthers and secure the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 1-0 win. James van Riemsdyk lifted Toronto over their visitors shortly before the end of the first period, although Panthers keeper Roberto Luongo redoubled to deny them any more. He stopped 30 shots by the Maple Leafs, who have now won 11 out of their last 12 games to rise to third in the Eastern Conference. Jakub Voracek levelled for the Philadelphia Flyers in their clash with the Montreal Canadiens with one minute and 25 seconds remaining of regulation before scoring the winner in overtime. The 3-2 win put the Flyers third in the Metropolitan Division, two points off defending champions the Pittsburgh Penguins. Colorado Avalanche rallied from 4-1 down to drag the Vancouver Canucks into overtime before Nathan Mackinnon scored in overtime. The tiebreaker one minute and 24 seconds into overtime secured Colorado’s first win in three games. NHL leaders Tampa Bay Lightning beat top Metropolitan team the Washington Capitals 4-2, helped by two goals for Brayden Point in the first period.
