Morton Buoyant Ton
Confidence was high in the Morton camp prior to Saturday’s trip to Dumfries. Four wins on the bounce in all competitions had seen Jim Duffy’s men secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, as well as returning to the play-off places.
Gary Oliver cancelled out Stephen Dobbie’s first-half effort, securing the Ton a valuable point away from home. Derek Gaston had to be in exceptional form on the day, though, denying the hosts on numerous occasions.
Tuesday night saw supporters make the short trip across the River Clyde to Dumbarton. Morton defeated the Sons two weeks previously in the Cup and this time Thomas O’ware’s header was enough to separate the sides.
