New Town tragedy

-

A homeless man was found dead in a street in Edinburgh’s New Town. I don’t feel sadness at this individual’s unnecessary death, what I feel is anger. How have we became a selfish neglectful society, that homeless people dying in the street is now the norm. How as a wealthy First World country with resources to combat this and other issues are we still allowing it to happen? The people in positions of authority, whether that be at the City Chambers, Holyrood or Westmonster need to take action now. This is 21st century Scotland, not some backward Stone Age hell hole.

Richard Elam A brutal cold spell is due. A man has died. Will another man die?

Kevin Gerard Mcgregor How many more people have to die before this country gets a grip. Open up empty buildings and shops if need be to give these people somewhere to live.

Maureen Moore 2018 in one of the richest countries in the world. This should not be happening.

Susan Ingram Edinburgh councillors need to take a good look and themselves and start looking out for the poor in our society and forget about all their vanity projects.

Richard Palmer Westminster needs to pull the plug on austerity – share the wealth of the UK equally.
