Turcan Connell grows Glasgow

- By SCOTT REID

Legal firm Turcan Connell is more than doubling the size of its Glasgow office with a move to 180 St Vincent Street.

The specialist private client firm, which has 22 partners and some 200 staff across its operations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, said it was expanding to meet rising client demand. It has taken the ninth floor of 180 St Vincent Street – ‘One80’ – extending to just over 4,800 square feet.

Northwood Regional UK, the building’s owner, recently undertook a full refurbishment of the top four floors and the main reception with the purpose of creating space that would appeal to professional services and corporate occupiers.

The 5,082 sq ft seventh floor was let last December to chartered accountancy firm Alexander Sloan, which is set to move in this week.

Peter Littlefield, head of Turcan Connell in Glasgow, said: “Client demand has been rising in Glasgow and it was clear we needed to move to larger premises.

“Although the physical distance involved is short – just a hop across St Vincent Street – this is a significant stepchange in our business footprint and our ambition in Glasgow.”

The firm is expected to move into the new office during the summer.

Northwood Regional UK is advised by Ryden and JLL. Turcan Connell is advised by Eric Young & Co.

Ken Mcinnes, Ryden office agency partner, said: “With no new office buildings ready to launch in 2018 in Glasgow the focus for property developers continues to be meeting occupational demand through Grade A refurbishments. With the improvements made to One80northwoodhascreated an ideal product in one of the city’s most desirable streets.”
