- By LUCINDA CAMERON

Police investigating the death of a pedestrian hit by a car are keen to trace a driver who may have seen the collision.

Martin Gray, 59, was taken to hospital following the collision involving a silver Mini Cooper on 16 January on the A970 in Shetland.

He was originally treated in the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick before being airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he died on 20 January.

Officers are trying to trace the driver of a small hatchback car seen in the area at the time of the collision, although it was not involved in the incident.

The crash happened close to a junction at the Gremista industrial estate near Lerwick.

Road Policing Constable Alasdair Mackay said: “We believe that the driver of a small dark coloured hatchback may have witnessed the collision, but we have not yet traced this vehicle.”
