What has made you proudest in the past 12 months?

Raising over £11,000 for motor neurone disease charities. The whole school was involved from the very youngest in the Junior School to our Upper Sixth pupils; a committee of dedicated parents were particularly influential. We presented the cheques to the charities at a whole school service in the school chapel in February. It is always heartening when we are able to pull together as a school community and achieve something that benefits others.

What is your favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Loretto has a very successful golf academy and I enjoy the opportunity to play nine holes with the children on a Sunday afternoon (but only in the summer when the weather is good). It is a terrific way to get to know the children and I can pick up some much-needed tips along the way. A biology specialist, Graham Hawley, 53, is married with two teenage children.
