Mark Becher
The Compass School
What has made you proudest in the past 12 months?
The Compass receiving two major national awards for our work in the area of digital learning and teaching. It is an honour for me to be the headteacher of a school, which by its size provides so many rich and varied opportunities for its children. Watching our children grow, develop and flourish during their time at the Compass makes me extremely proud, each and every day.
What is your favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
Being outdoors and active. I enjoy running, so a long run along the beaches of East Lothian can be truly uplifting, or maybe heading out for a good walk with my family, followed by a Sunday roast and the newspapers. Or perhaps rehearsing for the next show with Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association – theatre being my other great love. Mark Becher, 52, who initially taught primary children, is married with two grown-up daughters.
