THIRLESTANE CASTLE CARAVAN PARK

-

Holidaymakers at Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park wake up in a beautiful valley where walking, cycling, fishing, riding and fascinating history are on the doorstep.

There is also a stunning historic home for a neighbour. The park is set in the grounds of Thirlestane Castle – a magnificent 16th century edifice and the family home of the Dukes of Lauderdale.

It is one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland and remains a home to the duke’s descendants, the Maitland family.

Thirlestane is at the heart of Lauderdale and within walking distance of the market town of Lauder. It is also close enough to Edinburgh for a day trip to the capital.

The park caters for holiday home owners, touring caravans and campers and provides a spectacular base from which to explore the area.

During the castle’s opening season, guests at the caravan park receive a discount on the entry fee.

Events are held at the castle throughout the season, ranging from vintage car rallies and cycle races to outdoor theatre – this year the grounds will host a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a Civil War re-enactment.

There is an adventure playground for children and a tea room too.

Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park is currently undergoing an exciting development.

The park is expanding and offers the opportunity to purchase a home at the historic site, or a new location for those who already own a holiday home.

In terms of location, it would be hard to pick a better spot for a rural bolthole.
