Imrie calls for collective improvement

- By GAVIN MCCAFFERTY

Hamilton’s Dougie Imrie admits individual errors have cost them this year – but he knows only a collective approach can solve the problem.

Accies have conceded 15 goals and lost all five games since the winter break, the latest a 5-3 defeat by Rangers when even the normally reliable Gary Woods was culpable as he fumbled Josh Windass’ strike into his net.

Midfielder Imrie said: “It’s disappointing. Scoring three goals against Rangers at home, you would expect to take something from the game. But when you are conceding five at the other end, you are not giving yourself an opportunity to get points.

“We need to stop the individual errors, they are killing us at the moment. But it’s a team game, we are all as one, so we will take it in the neck and try to stop them as a team.”

Anxious to climb away from the threat of relegation as Accies currently occupy the play-off spot, Imrie added: “We have good, good players in this squad. It’s just not clicking, but that will come back. We have been in this situation before this season and came back and went six undefeated.”
