Power of Scotland
Much of Scotland will be still trying to shake a Calcutta Cup hangover today.
The fantastic performance on Saturday evening in sweeping aside the Auld Enemy and claiming the famous trophy for the first time in a decade is certainly one to savour.
With what must rank as one of the best Scottish wins of all time, they clinically dismantled the English team and gave the long-suffering Scottish sports fan something to cheer about at last.
And how we cheered. Even Police Scotland got in on the act by trolling the English team, delightfully tweeting that they were “investigating reports of cheering and singing across Scotland”.
Meanwhile, footage emerged of the jubilant Scots players in an Edinburgh nightclub on Saturday night, belting out Flower of Scotland led by scrum-half Greig Laidlaw. Fantastic passion, and who can blame them?
Thankfully this time, unlike the infamous incident from 30 years ago, the Calcutta Cup remained safely locked up and did not join the players on the town for the celebrations.
