Obsessed Trump

-

President Donald Trump seems to be obsessed in his belief that physical punishment is the primary way to reduce any kind of crime.

He would condone torture, suggests that the police use violence on perpetrators and now wants to increase the use of guns by teachers.

Trump goes so far as to suggest he will punish the whole world to bring North Korea into compliance: “If the sanctions don’t work we’ll have to go to Phase 2,” he said during an afternoon press conference with Australian Prime Minis ter Malcolm Turnbull. “Phase 2 may be a very rough thing. May be very, very unfortunate for the world.”

Mr Trump claims to be a Christian, yet he seems to have totally excluded Jesus’s primary teaching in the Sermon on the Mount.

Perhaps this is a remind er that taking the ‘text’ out of ‘context’ you are left with a ‘con’!

GAVIN CARGILL Edinburgh Road, Linlithgow I rarely watch soaps, but one airing on CNN called “The White House” makes for compelling viewing.

It revolves around a president with a “me, me, me” personality who has no empathy and a complete disregard for those around him while his family vie for top jobs in government and pursue billiondollarbusiness deals.

The costume department hasn’t seen such glitz since “Dallas” and “Dynasty”. The latest episodes have peripheral characters being arrested on charges of tax evasion and money laundering. There are hints that espionage will feature in other episodes.

There are also signs that the lead is getting bored with his rather predictable script. He started shouting last week about blowing bad guys to hell. He must have his eye on a future Rambostyle show.

I am not sure how long this series will run for, but in the meantime we can enjoy this farfetched slice of American soap opera with a cliffhanger at the end of each episode.
