Rescuers search for missing walker

Rescuers are searching for a hillwalker who has not returned from a walk in the Highlands.

Stephen Mitchell set off for a planned walk on Friday in the Bendronaig Lodge, Lurg Mhor and Bearneas areas of Strathcarron.

The 57-year-old had a rucksack and sleeping bag with him and was planning to sleep in bothies during the walk. Mr Mitchell was reported overdue in the early hours yesterday.

His car was found parked near the Strathcarron Hotel.
