Drink to that?

-

The Scottish Government is proposing the new minimum unit price (MUP) for alcohol be set at 50p per unit, Health Secretary Shona Robison said – despite concerns from some it could see the policy’s effectiveness “considerably reduced”. “Robison insisted the policy – which is being introduced on May 1 after the Scottish Government won a lengthy legal battle – would ‘save thousands of lives’.” This is a ridiculous claim, hard drinkers won’t be affected... alcoholism is a disease and these afflicted people will just carry on drinking however they can!

Toup They do reckon it will save 120 lives a year so the claim of thousands will be over a 20-year period or so. Time will be the judge of MUP.

Shengusmckhan This is a wallpaper job – the SG need to tackle alcoholism at source. My solution would be to invest in Scotland, create jobs, give everyone self esteem and for the most part the need to drink to excess goes.
