Dundee flats and homes benefit from £3.5m work

- By SCOTT REID

Almost 90 housing association properties in Dundee have been on the receiving end of a multimillion pound overhaul to help “future-proof” them against changing energy legislation.

Energy company Gosustainable undertook the £3.5 million upgrade of 88 homes at Craigiebank, in the Fintry area of the city, in a move that could see tenants enjoy annual energy savings of as much as £600. The properties also benefited from a full refurbishment.

The steel-framed properties are a combination of ground-floor flats, upper flats, terraced and semidetached properties, and are among around 3,000 similar homes constructed in Scotland between 1926 and 1928.

Callum Milne, managing director of Gosustainable, said: “We wholeheartedly applaud Abertay Housing Association for driving ahead with these measures which have ensured that their properties are not only meeting but exceeding guidelines when it comes to energy performance.”
