More gold for Murray as hotel wins top rating

Sir Andy Murray’s luxury hotel has been given a exclusive five-star rating by tourism bosses.

Cromlix House has become one of only two Five Star Gold Country House Hotels in Scotland following a grading by Visitscotl­and.

Cromlix, just three miles from Sir Andy’s hometown of Dunblane, Stirlingsh­ire, received the highest award possible from the national tourism organisati­on’s quality assurance scheme in recognitio­n of its exceptiona­l standards and outstandin­g customer service.

The Gold Star Award highlights establishm­ents that strive to exceed customer expectatio­ns while taking an innovative and proactive approach to customer care.

In order to achieve the status, a business must excel in all aspects of service and exceed-

Named as Scottish Hotel of the Year at the 2015’s Hospitalit­y Awards, Cromlix includes bedrooms, suites and a gate lodge as well as a Chez Roux restaurant and on site activities including tennis.

The 19th century house, built on the land once owned by James Chisholm, the Bishop of Dunblane, became a hotel in 1981 and was purchased by the tennis star at the start of 2013 as he looked to help attract new visitors to the area.

Sir Andy held his wedding reception at the hotel after tying the knot with wife Kim in Dunblane Cathedral in 2015.

The hotel is set in 34 acres of secluded woodlands and garden grounds, and guests can also enjoy fishing and in-room spa treatments.

Cromlix joins the Inverlochy Castle Hotel in Fort William which was earlier awarded Five Star Gold Country House Hotel status.
