Nicola Sturgeon and Theresa May are set for a showdown over Brexit after it was revealed that the First Minister rejected a UK Government offer to resolve a deepening row. @Gaponsonby wrote: “Headline on an online news page. ‘Sturgeon rejects offer in devolution row’. Many years ago Tony Benn wrote of how trade unions were always said to be ‘rejecting’ or ‘demanding’ and management were always portrayed as ‘offering’. This is an age old media trick.” @northernsoul78 said: “The BBC said Nicola Sturgeon has refused an ‘offer’ from the Tories over the EU Withdrawal Bill. It’s not an offer if someone is trying to take something from you.” @laura278hughes offered: “Sturgeon for PM, she’s the only politician talking sense and being consistent when it comes to this issue.”

Budget airline Ryanair is to close its base at Glasgow Airport. The number of winter routes operated from Glasgow will be reduced from 17 to three, with five being transferred to Edinburgh. @scottreid1980 tweeted: “I’d bemoan the loss of all those Ryanair flights from Glasgow Airport, but what Ryanair flights? They haven’t flown to London in months because they couldn’t find any pilots.” @rooba63 said: “Hundreds of jobs to go as Ryanair slashes flights from Glasgow. All because SNP shelved plan to cut passenger tax because Patrick Harvie and loopy Greens decreed it. Utter disgrace.”

#RODGERS

Reports stated Brendan Rodgers was on a shortlist drawn up by the Arsenal board of candidates to replace Arsene Wenger. @Jimwhite tweeted: “Reports this morning that Brendan Rodgers is one of the leading candidates to replace Arsene Wenger @ Arsenal this summer. I think it’s the perfect fit. Surely Brendan would literally be wasting his time by staying another year in Scotland?” @Jonspurling1 asked: “If Brendan Rodgers is the answer to the problems at #Arsenal – what exactly is the question?”
