West Lothian tech group inks multimilli­on deal

Livingston-based technology firm Optoscribe has signed a “multi-million pound” procuremen­t agreement – its largest to date.

The company, which supplies glass-based integrated circuit components, will supply chips to a major optical networking supplier. It will deliver a range of photonicco­mponentsin­tegrated into a single glass chip allowing the customer to quickly ramp its product to volume manufactur­ing.

Nick Psaila, Optoscribe’s chief executive, said: “This agreement is great news for the company and further endorses our unique 3D glass waveguide interface technology.

“This contract underpins our commitment to component manufactur­ing for the data-centre market and, we are well placed to grow rapidly in line with demand.”

Steve Mcmahon, chief commercial officer, added: “The company has provided a good technical solution that is cost-effective and improves performanc­e and we are very excited to be a key supplier partner to our customer.”
