Taxi drivers warn of ‘militant’ steps over rank row

-

Taxi drivers in Inverness have threatened to go on strike in a bitter dispute with Highland Council over plans to remove a busy city centre rank. Andrew Macdonald, chair of the Inverness Taxi Alliance, has accused the local authority of “destroying the viability” of the city’s taxi drivers.

He claimed there was a feeling that drivers should take “militant action” in response to the council’s “perceived arrogance.”

The council confirmed it is planning to remove the rank but said it was open to discussions with the alliance.
