Numbers on the up for Hastings

Car insurer Hastings has posted a 39 per cent hike in operating profits to £184 million for 2017 as it grew live customer policy numbers by 13 per cent to over 2.6 million, while gross written premiums lifted 21 per cent.

Thegroupannounced the figures as it welcomed new chief executive Toby van der Meer to the helm. He replaces Gary Hoffman.
