Green machine: Sales of environmentally friendly cars set to soar
More than a quarter of UK car buyers expect to pick up the keys for an alternatively fuelled vehicle (AFV) within six years, with 11 per cent planning on electric and 15 per cent opting for a hybrid car, according to a survey by car-buying comparison website Motorway.co.uk. It cited data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders showing that just 4.2 per cent of new cars sold last year were AFVS. Motorway.co.uk director Alex Buttle said soaring demand offers “huge opportunities for the car industry”.
