What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

A Breton top from Joanie Clothing with a French Fries patch on the chest. My other half doesn’t understand that each of the 30 or so stripy tops in my wardrobe have their own unique qualities.

What are you addicted to buying?

Colourful statement necklaces from Oliver Bonas. And stripy knit fabric for making even more Breton tops.

Best ever bargain?

A mint green pea coat from Oasis. I got it for half price as it had the wrong sale sticker on it.

Who has great style?

Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess in New Girl. She rocks grandad pyjamas and large rimmed spectacles.

Name your favourite high street shop.

To spare my bank balance, I’m trying to resist the urge to visit Boden’s new shop in Kensington.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

When I first started sewing, I made a bottle green blouse from a Fifties pattern. It had an enormous collar that made me look like Elvis, but not in a good way.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

My favourite shop-bought item is a yellow Seafolly raincoat from Seasalt with stripy (of course) jersey lining. My favourite me-made piece is a sky blue crêpe Martha dress with flared sleeves and black flower trimmings on the high neck and cuffs – it’s soooo pretty. n
