In other Beast from the East news, Scotland’s huge snowfall could put a £500m dent in the economy, experts fear. Councils need to get the farmers on board so this doesn’t happen again. Farmers have the fire power to keep the roads moving. Leave main routes for the gritters( what they are designed for) and give the farmers contracts to look after the rural roads. End result is cost-effective for the councils as they don’t need to invest huge amounts into the required machinery and the roads will be a much safer place. week than normal and our supermarke­t is depleted, so staff may get overtime to stock the shelves when supplies do come in. Royal Mail workers might get overtime to clear mail backlogs etc.
