Ultra shares hit on axed deal

Shares in Ultra Electronics slumped a shade under 10 per cent yesterday after the defence firm’s tie-up with America’s Sparton was torpedoed by competition concerns.

The stock closed down 146p at 1,333p, with the two firms “mutually terminating” the deal following concerns raised by the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
