Conduct was ‘deliberate in nature’

- By SCOTT MACNAB

An independent investigation into Mark Mcdonald’s conduct was commissioned by SNP chiefs to consider reports of inappropriate behaviour last November.

It followed allegations concerning three women. A total of 18 witnesses were interviewed.

The investigators concluded that Mcdonald’s inappropriate behaviour had been “deliberate in nature”.

He should have been aware that it was not appropriate for someone in his position to act in such a manner.

His actions included sending inappropriate and unwanted text and social media messages, as well as directing unwanted attention towards the women causing distress.

His behaviour was persistent and over an extended period of time. He was also judged tohave exploitedhisposition of power. A further allegation of inappropriate physical contact during a social event could not be established
