#PINKIPA

Craft beer company Brewdog launched a “new” Pink IPA ahead of International Women’s Day. It’s exactly the same as their Punk IPA with packaging designed to expose “lazy marketing efforts”, but some people are pointing out that in trying to do that, they’re replicating the same lack of effort. @selizabethdaly said: “Does anyone else just roll their eyes at Brewdog?” @chrisbrosnahan said: “If you want to see just how poorly Brewdog have landed their Pink IPA campaign, just look at how many men are currently explaining to women that they don’t understand nuance or satire.” @Kamillahannibal said: “Been busy but my thoughts on that Pink IPA business – it is lame. Such a stupid attempt at sarcasm and such a sad attempt at ‘cool’ marketing. Why not give 20 per cent of your proceeds from Punk IPA for 2 months? That would be way less embarrassing, way more equal and actually be more punk than anything Brewdog has attempted in ages.” @h_tucks said: “I don’t need a brand to create me a ‘female only beer’ to show their support for inequality.”

#SHORTBREAD

A furious row erupted online over Union Flag branding on Walkers Shortbread abroad, with some insisting they will boycott the Scottish biscuit manufacturer. @davybrook said: “This is how Walkers shortbread is being marketed in Germany. Destroying the strength of Scotland’s brand.” @chrismccusker67 said: “To the owners of Walkers Shortbread. How can you sleep at night knowing that you are doing Scotland a great disservice by branding a Scottish product with the butcher’s apron. Have you no ethics or morals whatsoever?” @douglasthebrave said: “For goodness sake! They supply tins with both flags. It’s a shame that one political party has hijacked the Saltire for their own use and maybe Walkers want to look politically neutral in Scotland, which is still a part of GB.” @keenanruggeri said: “Folk greeting about a pattern on a shortbread tin is hilarious. If you’re that up in arms about shortbread, imagine what you could achieve if you focused on something that actually mattered.”
