Hibernian Bad break
Last week’s postponements illustrated the folly of the January break. It makes no sense to cram midweek matches either side of the shutdown, only to find that winter comes later with a vengeance. It isn’t the first time we’ve had snow in March (Hibs won the League Cup in March 2007 in a blizzard), and to second guess when pitches will be playable is nonsensical.
Friday’s derby gives Hibs an opportunity to extend our lead over Hearts in the league to an almost insurmountable one, and increase our chances of European football. But when the whistle blows at Easter Road no-one will be contemplating league positions; only the important matter of winning a derby will be in the minds of players and fans.
