Shameful system

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon agrees with the majority of those living in disgraced Mark Mcdonald’s constituency that he should now go and allow a by-election to take place.

There seems to be a dogged arrogance with politicians who are exposed for unacceptable behaviour to desperately hang on to their job irrespective of what people think.

Our Scottish political system needs to be changed to stop absurd “golden goodbye” payments to ministers and a procedure whereby constituents have the right to call for a by-election when the behaviour of an MSP becomes wholly unacceptable. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN
