Fishing filleted
Perhaps the UK could take a leaf out of Norway’s book in respect of preserving precious fisheries?
Edward Heath ceded EU access to our fishing grounds in 1975 and the sustainability of our fishing industry has been at risk ever since.
Some will recall Heath’s visit to Shetland for a strawberry tea party after he lost office. As one local pundit put it he was ‘like a seagull looking for rain’.
We appear to have had too many politicians of every hue since then with a similar affliction.
Now there is at last an opportunity to take back control, our politicians need to hold fast and spare no time in so doing. ELIZABETH MARSHALL Western Harbour Midway
