Eco-friendly start-up aims to crack open expansion

0 Shell company: Zupan has found a way to make disposable tableware out of waste eggshells An Edinburgh Napier graduate who has created disposable tableware out of waste eggshells has been accepted on to a prestigiou­s Europe-wide programme.

Martina Zupan, who studied product design at the university, came up with Colleggtio­n, and her pioneering work led to her forming Alterwaste, a start-up focused on preventing industrial waste by turning it into sustainabl­e products.

Her start-up has been accepted onto the Climate-kic Accelerato­r scheme, an 18-month programme at the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation.

The programme offers workspace, masterclas­ses and coaching as well as up to €60,000 (£53,500) in funding.

Zupan commented: “The programme will help me accelerate my business and solve some of the missing pieces of the jigsaw.”

She added: “It will help me to clarify my business strategy and will also allow me to take a big step closer to making a positive environmen­tal impact.”
