... and no passes?

SNP Transport Minister Humza Yousaf raises ‘concerns’ over the sustainability of free bus passes as the older end of our population rises. Funny how there was no problem funding a 24 per cent increase in a single year for MSPS allowances.

oneworld72 Bus passes should be for only non-working pensioners over the age of 65 , the disabled and chronically ill.

Seprats Areus Why should those in paid employment receive free travel because they are of a certain age? I see it every morning commuting by bus. An unsustainable luxury in today’s financial climate.

The Font The SNP lack honesty, this yet another example. It’s nothing whatsoever to do with free (sic) bus travel, and everything to do with finding money to continue to fund the SNP’S xenophobic and increasingly unaffordable free (sic) tuition fees policy.

Sam Spade England and Wales also have a free transport system for older and disabled people. They tend not to allow free travel in the morning peak.

William Kay Mind you, the over-60s don’t vote for them, eh?

Peter The birds are coming home to roost. Free everything eventually has a cost that can’t be met. Free bus passes, free tuition fees, and free prescriptions do not come at no cost. It does seem strange that all those in work over 60 should get free bus passes, tying this to the pension age would seem more logical and cost effective.

Aristotle I’m over 60, still work and use my bus pass to get to work, apart from a couple of short spells I’ve worked since I was 15 and paid my share of taxes.

Jimmy Cricket What would be more logical, than stealing from the old, is to ditch the plan to spend £500k to get more women into Holyrood and pay for the uni education of foreigners.
