CRITICS’ CHOICE
POP
At The Drive In
This cult Californian punk outfit originally exploded out of El Paso, Texas at the turn of the millennium, swept everything before them with their exhilarating, athletic shows but they split on the verge of crossover success. Singer Cedric Bixler-zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-lópez fronted the truly progressive rock band The Mars Volta for the next decade but have returned to their first incendiary incarnation to whip up a storm musicians half their age would struggle to muster. ART
Cate Inglis
Cate Inglis is fascinated by urban dereliction. She makes mono prints of wasteland, ruined buildings, broken fences of corrugated iron and abandoned industrial sites beneath grey skies, all exquisitely observed. The results are low key but unexpectedly beautiful. Open Eye, Edinburgh, until today, 0131-557 1020
