Freeagent hires veteran as head of sales

Accounting software specialist Freeagent has appointed an industry veteran to help drive sales at the Edinburghb­ased business.

The firm, which targets its cloud-based accounting products and mobile applicatio­ns at UK micro-businesses, said it had hired Nick Longden as vice-president of sales to help spearhead growth within its accounting practice division.

Formerly vice-president of fintech, mobile and connected devices at Mobica, Longden has been appointed to his new role after a two-decade long career in the accounting software industry, where he has worked for major companies includings­age,xero,cchand Pegasus.

Ed Molyneux, founder and chief executive of Freeagent, which in November 2016 listed on London’s Alternativ­e Investment Market, said: “A veteran of the accounting software industry, Nick was involved at the very start of the cloud and software-asa-service revolution and has worked with some of the leading names in the industry.

“With over 25 years’ industry experience his credential­s speak for themselves and his experience will be invaluable as we execute on our growth plans.”
