Peterhead fish box firm nets funding for factory

- By SCOTT REID

A Peterhead-based fish container provider has secured a seven-figure funding package to construct a purpose-built factory.

Box Pool Solutions, which has agreed the £1.2 million funding deal with Royal Bank of Scotland, said the new facility would enable it to add an extra production line, creating the ability for the business to double the number of plastic fish boxes it currently makes.

Established in 2005, the firm currently services around 100 fishing vessels and generates an annual turnover of about £2.2m.

The new state-of-the-art factory, which is expected to open in the spring, will allow the company to continue to expand with the creation of four fulltime jobs.

Managing director Gayle Graham said: “The fishing industry in Scotland is going through an incredibly buoyant period and the recent funding boost has enabled us to expand our premises, giving us the opportunity to be even more active within a thriving sector.”
