Canning spot-on

Saturday might turn out to be a day that confirmed our place in the top league next season. With a deserved win against a surprisingly poor Motherwell and only Thistle of the other relegation candidates getting even a point, it’s a good time to be an Accies fan.

We do have a nasty bunch of games before the split, but it’s probably better than those faced by our rivals. Much had been made of the absence of key players on Saturday, but youngsters Shaun Want, Darren Lyon, Scott Mcmann and Lewis Ferguson really impressed. I have to praise Martin Canning, who certainly got his selection and tactics right on the day. It wasn’t a game for the purist, but the league table looks pretty good to me. Next up is a six-pointer at Dingwall, where a win would be awesome.
