Doncaster replaces Maxwell on SFA board

Ian Maxwell has stepped down from his position on the board of the Scottish Football Associatio­n to be replaced by Neil Doncaster.

Partick Thistle chief executive Maxwell has been replaced on the board by Scottish Profession­al Football League chief executive Doncaster, who was voted in by the profession­al game Board.

Maxwell is one of the favourites to replace Stewart Regan as chief executive at the SFA, after he stepped down from the role at the beginning of february, with Andrew Mckinlay holding the role temporaril­y.

A statement from the governingb­ody said :“at today’ s Profession­al Game Board meeting, it was confirmed that Ian Maxwell had stepped down with immediate effect from the board of the Scottish FA.

“Neil Doncaster was elected unopposed by the Profession­al Game Board as his replacemen­t.”

Alan Mcrae, SFA president added: “I would like to thank Ian Maxwell for his valuable contributi­ons to the work of our board, in particular the part played by him during the recruitmen­t of our national team manager.

“I am pleased to welcome Neil Doncaster on to our board to replace Ian. Neil’s experience in the game should be of great benefit to the Scottish FA and I look forward to working with him and the other directorst­o drive the game in this country forward.”
