Queen of the South Hard work undone
Grinding out an undeserved victory on a heavy pitch in Dumbarton is exactly the sort of performance a team looking to get into the play-offs needs at this stage of the season. The ability to “win ugly” is a vital component of any successful side. Unfortunately, if you follow that with an insipid home defeat to the team one place above you in the table it undoes all the hard work.
But neither result should come as any great surprise. Generally during his time in charge Gary Naysmith has done well against the lesser teams but struggled to get anything from our nearest challengers. Our only home wins this season have come against Falkirk, Dumbarton and Brechin. Or to put it another way; the teams in seventh, ninth and tenth in the table.
