#GAVINWILLIAMSON
As the row deepened over the UK’S assertion that Russia ordered the poisoning of a father and daughter in Salisbury, Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said Putin’s country should ‘just shut up and go away’. @Dpjhodges wrote: “Gavin Williamson is a child. The greatest security threat since the war, and we have a pre-pubescent schoolboy in charge of our armed forces.” @Josephdcassidy added: “Theory: Gavin Williamson is stuck in a real-life 13 going on 30 situation but instead of a fashion mag a teen Tory activist is now in the body of the Defence Secretary.” @Dawnhfoster tweeted: “Good to know we’re ruled by Sensible Grown-ups, eh.”
#ALEXSALMOND
Alex Salmond has been criticised after refusing to give up his chat show on Kremlin-owned TV channel Russia Today. The EX-SNP leader hosted yesterday’s show with a defiant tone, arguing that shutting down the network would amount to censorship. @Jbickertonuk posted: “My surprise isn’t that Alex Salmond has sold his integrity, but that he has done it so cheaply.” @Frasernelson said: “Sad to see Alex Salmond reduced to this. Everyone knows what RT is and what it does. You can be amused or outraged, you can say it should be banned, or that free speech means not banning it. But you can’t pretend it’s comparable to the BBC, ITV or Sky.” @Celticswede argued: “Democracy and free speech comes in a variety of flavours however unpalatable. Cherry picking what you only like to hear degrades that democracy.”
#MESSI
Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi has been lauded after his two-goal performance against Chelsea. @Janagefjorfoft wrote: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest goalscorer of all time but Messi is the greatest player of all time.” @Samiprajguru added: “What do I say about Messi? Been following live football since 1982 and never seen a striker like him. Scores two goals through the legs of Chelsea goalkeeper. Every defender and coach knows what he will do and yet still can’t stop him.”
