Rioting inmates to spend longer in jail

Inmates who took part in a riot sparked by a ban on smoking and short-staffing have all had three years added to their jail sentences.

Luke Needham, 30, Deno Harrison, 23, and Ben Sharratt, 27, were each handed the additional term at Winchester Crown Court for their part in a prison mutiny at HMP Erlestoke in Wiltshire on 11 June, 2016.

Need ham and harrison were found guilty of prison mutiny while Sharratt admitted the offence. The sentences will run consecutively.
