#TRIALSHIFTS

SNP MP Stewart Mcdonald bill bidding to ban employers from forcing candidates for jobs to do unpaid trial shifts fell short in the House of Commons. Government MPS ‘talked out’ Mr Mcdonald’s bill, a virtual filibuster that ensures it has virtually no chance of progressing.

@Ewanmcqueen7 wrote: “Used to work for a company that would use people for trial shifts (sometimes multiple shifts) and then neither employ nor pay them for the work they had done. Great to see a proposal going through the motions to change this unfair tactic used by several businesses.”

@Jordanlabour said: “Watching @Conservatives talk out a bill that would protect workers from unpaid trial shifts. Scandalous – the @Houseofcommons needs to change this ridiculous rule.”

#STILLGAME

There was sadness in Thursday’s episode of Still Game, as Eric was killed off. The ex-fireman was found slumped at a fruit machine, sparking grief among fans.

@Stuartfindlay95 tweeted: “Don’t care what anybody says, Still Game is still as good as it ever was. Unbelievable show! Can’t believe they’ve done that to

my boy Eric though.”

@Chrissymcclure1

summarised: “Was impressed with Still Game, some good bits in it but sad to see Eric go, one of the greats! Also, the sooner methadone Mick gets booted off the better. “

@Aidankerrtweets said: “That was Still Game at its very best tonight – sharp, working class Scottish humour. R.I.P Eric.”

#INFINITYWAR

The latest Marvel Comics film, Avengers: Infinity War, debuted its latest trailer yesterday. The film, featuring a host of heroes like Iron Man and Thor, was partly filmed in Edinburgh and there have been calls to hold the premiere in the city.

@Jonathanchait

complained: “If you gathered every parent who’s been bored to sleep in the cinema by superhero Cgi-fests, and asked them to name the next sequel, the title we’d come up with is ‘Infinity War’.”

@Awestruckvox gushed: “There literally has never been a movie on the scale of Infinity War before. This is the accumulation of ten years’ worth of films. Wow.”

@Shoufii tweeted: “Haven’t seen all the Avengers movies. But tempted to see Infinity War just to spot the bits of Edinburgh.”
