Research buoy found on Highland beach
A research buoy deployed to examine the sea close to a Greenland glacier has been found on a Highland beach.
It was thought to be lost after last transmitting in 2015.
The yellow buoy was found washed up next to Clachtoll Beach Campsite in Sutherland.
Scientists have estimated that the buoy, which was found with a sea anemone attached, travelled 1,098 miles from the area of its deployment. The device, discovered on 9 February, is among a number that are deployed near the Helheim Glacier.
